What is the difference between an LED lamp and a UV lamp?
Here are a few key differences between LED UV lamps, like SunUV, and traditional UV lamps:
- Lamp Life: LED UV lamps have a longer life — usually tens of thousands of hours — and are more energy efficient than traditional UV lamps.
- Curing Efficiency: LED UV lamps have a targeted UV spectrum that gives you higher curing efficiency, shorter curing time, and may be safer for your skin than traditional single-wavelength UV lamps.
- Environmental Awareness: LED ultraviolet lamps are made without harmful substances such as mercury, and are more environmentally friendly than traditional ultraviolet lamps.
- Long Term Stability: The light intensity of LED UV lamps is stable and maintains brightness even after long use, while traditional UV lamps may dim and become less efficient.
- Start Up Time: LED UV lamps turn on and are ready to cure instantly, while traditional UV lamps need some warm-up time.
- Safety: LED UV lamps do not produce ultraviolet radiation and volatile solvent (ozone), so they are safer to use.
- Size & Weight: LED UV lamps are smaller and lighter, making them easy to carry and set up.
- Light Pollution: LED UV lamps produce limited light pollution thanks to their targeted band range, while traditional ultraviolet lamps may produce more harmful byproducts including stray light and ozone.
- Cost: LED UV lamps are often more expensive upfront, but their long lifespan makes them a worthwhile investment.
What are the benefits of using a UV LED nail lamp?
LED UV lamps provide many advantages for you and your nails:
- Fast Curing Time: LED lights can activate the photosynthesizer within 10–30 seconds, making nail polish dry and cure faster.
- Uniform Curing Effect: The LED light array is evenly distributed to ensure each part of the nail receives the same light intensity, avoiding discoloration and blistering.
- Energy Efficient: LED UV lamps consume less energy, require no warm-up time, and are made without harmful substances like mercury.
- Long Life: LED lights can last tens of thousands of hours, while traditional lamps require costly replacements.
- Easy To Carry: The smaller, lighter design makes them easy to transport between salons, home, or travel.
What’s the standard lifetime on UV LED nail lamps?
The standard lifespan of UV LED nail lamps is usually tens of thousands of hours, so there is no need to worry about replacing the lamp beads. The lifespan may vary depending on frequency of use and quality, but with proper use and maintenance your LED UV lamp should last for years.
Our products are covered by a warranty. Please contact us at support@sunuv.com with any questions.

Are SUNUV lamps easy to store?
Our lamps are compact and lightweight, making them easy to store. They can fit on a table or desk or be stored in a cupboard when not in use.
Are SUNUV nail lamps easy to clean and what materials should I use for cleaning?
It is important to keep your lamp clean to maintain its performance and extend its lifespan. We recommend these steps:
- Unplug the lamp and allow it to cool down.
- Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to wipe the surface. Avoid paper towels or rough cloths.
- If needed, use a small amount of water or mild cleaning solution — no harsh chemicals.
- Use a cotton swab for hard-to-reach areas.
- Dry completely before plugging it back in.
What measures can I take to protect myself when using a nail lamp?
- Wear protective gloves or apply SPF 30+ cream.
- Control exposure time and power settings.
- Use the lamp on a dry, stable surface.
- Unplug the lamp after use and store it in a dry, ventilated area.
- Follow the lamp and polish manufacturer’s recommendations.
Should my SUNUV nail lamp feel warm?
It is normal for a UV LED nail lamp to feel warm or even hot during use. The heat should remain in a comfortable range. If you have concerns, contact support@sunuv.com and we’ll be happy to assist.
Will UV radiation damage my skin?
Yes, UV radiation can potentially damage the skin, especially with repeated or prolonged exposure.
Most LED nail lamps use UV-LED light sources with wavelengths closer to visible light than traditional UV lamps, which means they emit lower levels of UV and are generally considered less harmful.
However, protective measures are still recommended — particularly for those with sensitive skin. Applying broad-spectrum SPF 30+, wearing protective gloves, and limiting exposure time can help minimize any potential risks.
Do SUNUV nail lamps come with warranty?
Yes! Each of our lamps comes with a warranty. You can view our policy here: Limited Warranty Policy – SUNUV® Official Store
How are white LED lights gentler than purple lights?
Our white LED light is softer because the spectral distribution is more uniform and doesn’t contain too much blue light, which can be harsh. Brightness can also be adjusted for comfort.
Do you sell spare power cords? Can I get a power cord replacement?
Please contact our Customer Support team at support@sunuv.com and provide your order number (or a photo of the serial number).
We do not offer replacement power cords and have not identified a compatible third-party alternative. Our adapters are specifically designed for SUNUV products.
Using non-SUNUV power cords may affect performance and void warranty coverage.
Can you share the adapter specifications for one of your lamps?
Please contact our Customer Support team at support@sunuv.com with the lamp model you need the adapter specs for, and we’ll be happy to help.
If I take my lamp to the UK/EU, would I need a plug adapter or voltage converter?
You will need a US-to-EU voltage converter.
Is there any way to deactivate the proximity sensors in the lamps?
In general:
- The light goes on when you put your hand in and off when you remove it.
- If you press a timer button (e.g., 30s or 60s), the lamp will count down and turn off when the timer ends.
Does SUNUV sell any cordless lamps?
All SUNUV nail lamps are corded to provide stable and reliable power performance.
Does SUNUV sell LED boards for your lamps?
We do not sell LED boards for any of our nail lamp models.
Can SUNUV lamps cure craft resin?
Yes, our lamps can cure craft resin — but only if the resin is specifically designed for UV LED curing. Curing time depends on the thickness of the resin layer.
What is SUNUV’s best selling nail lamp?
Some of our most popular nail lamps include: SUNone, SUN9C, SUN2C, SUN4S, and SUN4.
Does SUNUV offer Australian plugs for their nail lamps?
We currently offer only US, UK, and EU plugs. For use in Australia, we recommend purchasing a converter.
What are the nanometers of all your lamp models?
All SUNUV lamp models — both at-home and professional — feature wavelengths of 365nm + 405nm, ideal for curing a wide range of gel products.
Can I use any type of polish with my SUNUV nail lamp?
LED UV lamps are designed to quickly cure your nail polish. Different types of nail polish require different curing approaches:
- UV gel nail polish: Must be cured with UV light (365nm), typically for 2–3 minutes.
- Ordinary gel nail polish: Can be cured with UV or LED lamps — curing times may vary.
- Ordinary nail polish: No curing needed — air dry.
- Water-based nail polish: No curing needed — air dry.
Why is my polish still tacky after curing?
If your gel polish remains tacky after the recommended curing time, it’s often related to the type or thickness of the product.
- Apply thin, even layers — thick layers take longer to cure.
- Make sure your polish is UV/LED compatible with your SUNUV lamp.
- Extend curing time slightly if needed, but avoid over-curing which can increase heat.
- Some gel polishes have a tacky layer by design. This can be wiped off with a cleanser after curing.
If curing issues continue, please share your order details and the polish brand, and we’ll help troubleshoot further.
My lamp is not curing properly or has stopped curing — what should I do?
If your SUNUV lamp isn’t curing well or has stopped curing altogether, a few quick checks usually solve the issue:
- Make sure the lamp is securely plugged in and the power outlet is working.
- Check that the LED bulbs are intact and seated properly — a damaged bulb can affect curing performance.
- Confirm that all switches or timer controls are in the correct position.
- If the lamp still doesn’t cure, please check the power cord for any visible damage or loose connections.
If none of these steps help, please reach out to us with:
- A description of what happened
- A photo or short video of the issue (if possible)
- Your order number
This will help us resolve the issue quickly for you.
My lamp feels too hot during use — is this normal?
A warm sensation during curing can happen and is usually normal. Here’s why and what you can do:
- The curing process involves a physical polymerization reaction, which releases heat instantly.
- Applying a thin layer of gel polish can help — thicker layers generate more heat.
- Try using the 30–60 second setting rather than longer cure times to reduce heat buildup.
- If it still feels uncomfortable, switch to low-heat mode for a gentler curing process.
If the lamp itself is getting unusually hot to the touch, please stop using it and contact us for assistance.
I had an allergic reaction after using the product — what should I do?
If you’ve experienced any kind of allergic reaction, stop using the product immediately.
Please contact us and include:
- A brief description of your symptoms and when they started
- The product used
- Your order number
How long will my SUNUV lamp last, and can I replace the bulbs?
SUNUV lamps are designed with long-life LED beads that typically last up to 50,000 hours. These LEDs don’t need to be replaced like traditional UV bulbs. If your lamp stops working earlier than expected, it’s usually due to a power cord or internal fault, not the LED lifespan. Please contact us and we’ll help resolve it quickly.
How can I safely use my SUNUV lamp?
- Always follow the recommended curing times for your gel polish.
- Avoid applying thick layers of polish, as this can create excessive heat.
- Keep the lamp clean and avoid prolonged direct skin exposure to the light.
- If you experience any unusual heat or skin reactions, discontinue use immediately and contact us.
